Six Days End - In Between Two Nothings (released October 16, 2020)

This is one I’ve been listening to a lot lately. Hailing from Tehran, Iran, Six Days End is the duo of Parsa Fayal and Armin Namdar, both sharing duties on synths, keyboards, guitars, bass, vocals, drum programming and FX. In Between Two Nothings is their entry into the space rock scene, but it’s space rock with a twist. I love it when bands can so skillfully infuse rock music with electronica, and Six Days End succeeds admirably at it. In fact, I would argue that it's the other way around; they skillfully infuse electronica with rock music. Most of these tracks focus on rhythms, atmospheres and texture, then suddenly breaking out from the pulsing beats comes these moments of beautiful, soar

Insight: Vangelis - 'The Dragon' and ‘Hypothesis’ (both recorded in 1971 and released in 1978)

As the story goes, The Dragon and Hypothesis were unfinished albums recorded shortly after the break-up of Aphrodite's Child when producer Giorgio Gomelsky introduced Vangelis to some musicians in London. They formed a loose collaboration in 1971 and recorded two albums worth of material in the studio, with, according to Gomelsky, the intention to evaluate the sessions and add overdubs where necessary later. Unfortunately, they never reconvened, and the tapes were shelved. The recording sessions had been financed by BYG Records, with the intent of releasing them on their label. BYG was a French record label that existed from 1967 to 1972 that specialized in free jazz. They released albums by
